The Memphis Herb Society

The Memphis Herb Society began meeting at the Memphis Botanic Garden in 1986 with about 30 members and has grown to over 120 members. The group meets every fourth Thursday at the Botanic Gardens offering refreshments at 6:30 with the program starting at 7:00. There is no typical meeting - they vary from nationally known herbalists to MHS members presenting programs. A sample of the programs can be found here. If you want to join, individual dues are $20/year and families can join for $25.

The biggest event MHS hosts during the year is the Herbal Celebration hosted with Memphis Botanic Gardens. This event boasts vendors, speakers, concessions, and tours of MBG Herb Garden. More information can be found on that event here

MHS has a yearly program "Members Market" for DIY herbalists to sell their wares. Refreshments are provided by members creating recipes using herbs from their own gardens - and they share their recipes!

The next fourth Thursday plan on visiting an MHS meeting to see what it's all about.
Thanks to Debbie Robinson, webmaster for MHS, for providing me with this information. Anyone with further questions may contact the President, Cathy Coker at postcoker@Hotmail.com and/or check out their website here. You can also check out Channel 3 News at 9:00 am Monday, May 18 and see Mary Beth Conley host Cathy on her show.
